8. Discovering the Best Places to see the Fall Colours

New Monday, New Week! Hello all, @flyzone here on day#2 of taking over @tourismHamilton Instagram account and sharing some of the best spots around Hamilton, where you can discover fall colours and more. 😀🍁 Hamilton is known as the City of Waterfalls for its over 100 waterfalls in the area. Fall colours and waterfalls are a perfect combination. One of my favourite are surely the Chedoke falls, Lower (in the image) and Upper. You can get to the falls by following the The Chedoke Radial Recreational Trail, a pedestrian and bicycle pathway developed on the former right of way of the Brantford and Hamilton Electric Railway. Lower Chedoke is about 6 metres (20 feet) high while the Upper Chodoke is 18 metres (60 feet) in height. Chedoke Falls is named after Chedoke Creek which runs through the area. An interesting fact about “Chedoke” is that it is not a Native Indian word as believed and noted in many websites and books. In fact it is a corruption of two English words “seven oaks”. The Native Indians caught the sound and changed “seven oaks” into “Chedoke”. If you’re like me and hiking also gives you a big appetite, you’ll be glad to find the great spots nearby, like the Aberdeen Tavern (@aberdeentavern ). Just park on Locke Street and you will have plenty of choices like Mattson & Co (@mattsonandco) or Earth to Table ( @breadbar_hamilton ). Check out AMO ( @amogelatocaffe ) for the ice cream and Bitten ( @bitten_on_locke ) for the cupcakes 😋#myhamilton #fallcolours #HamOnt #Hamilton #lowerchedokefalls #instatakeover #amazing_shots #opcmag #nikonca #allbeauty_addiction #depthsofearth #worldprime #ourplanetdaily #nakedplanet #tourtheplanet #exceptional_pictures #ig_eternity #earthfocus #wilderness_culture #awesomeglobe #cangeotravel #earthofficial #tree_magic #tree_captures #tree_brilliance
