Royal Botanical Gardens
January 2 – 6
Constructed from over seven tons of cedar slabs, 3,000 pounds of rock and 250 feet of track, the Botanical Train Show features model trains of famous Canadian landmarks from coast to coast!
Art Gallery of Hamilton
January 1 – May 20
A large number of artists working in Hamilton are represented in the second phase of the Hamilton Now exhibition, focusing on sculptors. Object is a large group exhibition offering fresh experiences of various material and conceptual approaches to the medium. Works include architectural explorations of place, clay sculptures, textile works and an interactive digital video project that incorporates a sculptural map of Hamilton.
Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum
January 1 – March 17
Pilot a First World War biplane using motion-sensing technology in this exciting interactive exhibt from the Canada Aviation and Space Museum. Moving their arms and tilting their bodies, participants can manoeuvre a Sopwith Camel through an immersive onscreen environment.
4. Art Crawl
James Street North
On the second Friday of every month, Hamilton’s art and culture hub, James Street North, is transformed by a decade-old phenomenon called Art Crawl. These now famous art crawls provide a one-stop shop to experience the city’s art, music, and food scenes, while shopping local, people watching, and taking in some city sights all at once. The best way to experience Art Crawl is to set out on foot and explore. Each month is different – you never know what you will stumble across.
Cheer on the defending Ontario Hockey League Champions as the Hamilton Bulldogs face off against the Niagara IceDogs while MVP (most valuable pup) Brusier dances in the aisles!
Enjoy a hands-on and interactive sausage-making workshop lead by MERIT Sausage Maker, Shawn McKinnon. After the class, you’ll taste through MERIT’s entire sausage menu paired with a flight of 4 beers, then head home with a 4-pack of sausages!
Three-time CMA nominee Dirks Bentley brings his Burning Man Tour to Hamilton with special guests Jon Pardi, Tenille Townes and Hot Country Knights. He’s been a fan favourite since his first country album in 2003 and is known for his enthusiasm at live shows.
