1. Vivian Maier: Street Photographer
Art Gallery of Hamilton
Exhibit runs until January 6
The Art Gallery of Hamilton is hosting Canada’s only Vivian Maier photo exhibit. The “secret nanny-photographer” died in obscurity but left behind a huge collection of black and white images depicting striking images of street life in Chicago and New York from the 1950s and 1960s.
2. 13th Annual Hamilton Film Festival
November 3 – 11
The Hamilton Film Festival is one of Hamilton’s largest film festival with filmmakers from more than 40 countries participating. For the 13th annual HFF, expect some great movies under the theme of ‘darkness’. Don’t miss the opening Gala Night, with Fashion Show, Short Films & Concert at The Zoetic.
3. Hamilton’s Food & Drink Fest
November 9 – 11
Sample, sip and savour a huge variety of local wines, craft beers and chef-inspired foods from the region’s top restaurants, craft breweries and Ontario wineries. Live musical acts and cooking demos too! Must be 19 years of age or older on Friday & Saturday. Sunday is Family Day with all ages welcome. 12 and under free on Sunday only.
4. Discover Hamilton Beer Tour
Experience the passion that goes into making small batch beer and cider and fall in love with Hamilton’s exciting new drink scene. Round trip transportation from Toronto, Oakville and Hamilton provided along with lunch, drinks and snacks. Just sit back, sip and enjoy.
5. The McQuesten Family Christmas: Opening Weekend
Whitehern Historic House & Garden
November 17 – 18
The halls will be decked, the dining table is set with the best china, the original toys are under the tree in the sitting room, and three different time periods show how traditions have changed through the generations of the McQuesten family at Whitehern.
6. Gordon Lightfoot
FirstOntario Concert Hall
Multiple JUNO winner, Grammy nominee and Canadian legend Gordon Lightfoot returns to FirstOntario Concert Hall after last playing here in 2014. Lightfoot’s ties to Hamilton run deep with his last two recordings, Harmony.
7. Christmas in the Pioneer Spirit
Battlefield House Museum & Park
Gather your family and step back in time to experience the warmth, welcome and simplicity of an early 19th century Christmas. The Gage family home comes alive with evergreen boughs on the mantles and enticing aromas in the air during these special holiday tours.
8. Victorian Christmas
Dundurn National Historic Site
November 27 – December 30
Enjoy the beauty of a mid-19th century family Christmas celebration at Dundurn Castle. The Garden Club of Hamilton decorates the Castle in Victorian splendor with cedar boughs, ribbons and dried flowers. Bring your family and share a favourite Hamilton holiday tradition.
9. ELF – The Musical

November 28 to December 23
A must-see holiday musical the whole family will adore, based on the beloved holiday film about Buddy, who is raised in Santa’s workshop, until venturing on a journey to New York City to discover his true identity and the true meaning of Christmas.
10. Il Divo
FirstOntario Concert Hall
The six continent TIMELESS tour is an incredible fan experience of tenor powerhouse vocal group Il Divo’s song interpretations and will feature a dramatic and evocative production including dancers, acrobats and video elements!
