The City of Hamilton is thrilled to celebrate hometown hero and NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander at a free community rally at Hamilton Stadium, where Mayor Andrea Horwath will present the NBA MVP with The Key to the City, one of the City's highest honours.

• This will be a free, ticketed family-friendly event at Hamilton Stadium in the city's east end.
• Raised in Hamilton, Ontario, Gilgeous-Alexander made history this year as the first Canadian to win NBA Finals MVP, the first to lead the league in scoring, and only the second Canadian to earn regular-season MVP.
• The Oklahoma City Thunder point guard is also one of just four players in NBA history to win all four major titles in a single season - and has been recognized on the world stage with the 2025 ESPY Best Athlete - Men's Sports.
• The celebration will continue Thursday evening during the Hamilton Tiger-Cats home game vs. the BC Lions at 7:30 p.m. at Hamilton Stadium, where Gilgeous-Alexander will be honoured in a special tribute during the game (separate regular-game ticket required).
